Dielectric today announced it has shipped a $1.2 million antenna system order to Ethiopia in support of the nation’s second-generation DVB-T2 network rollout scheduled for later this year.

The antenna maker is providing the Ethiopian government with UHF antennas, filters, more than 7,000 feet of transmission line and other RF components for 26 low- to medium-power transmission sites throughout the country, it said.

GatesAir, the prime contractor on the project, will design, supply, install, test and commission the DVB-T2 network installation. The initial rollout will provide 20 channels of content from all 26 sites.

To meet the requirements of the Ethiopian government, Dielectric accelerated its production process, completing the entire order within six weeks, it said. All sites will use the company’s Powerlite series omnidirectional antenna for the DVB-T2 network rollout.

The systems for Ethiopia include TUA panel antennas, flex transmission line and tunable filters customized for each station and power level.

J.M.T. International, GatesAir’s partner and dealer in Ethiopia, will install the antennas. Sabre Tower will install the tower infrastructure.
