Grass Valley plans to demo the 8K editing at InterBEE, Japan’s largest audio, video and communications exhibition. The news comes after the fact that certain events at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo will broadcast in 8K, which is 16 times the resolution of today’s high definition format.
Grass Valley uses its HQX Codec to make editing in the super high resolution possible. The codec improves editing response time and is essentially the key technology behind the real-time editing.
EDIUS 7, the latest version of Grass Valley’s editing software, will support 4K and 8K in the future with a 64-bit native architecture. The software is compatible with all major file formats and can edit in real-time without rendering.
