KVLY Flies High For North Dakota Make-A-Wish

Some sick children and their families in North Dakota will have their wishes come true soon thanks to KVLY and North Dakota Make-A-Wish Miles Drive.

Last week, KVLY, Gray’s NBC affiliate in Fargo, N.D., partnered with the North Dakota Make-A-Wish Chapter to make history with the first North Dakota Make-A-Wish Miles Drive.

The drive collected unused airline miles to help North Dakota children with critical illnesses.
The final tally was 544,937 miles donated. Those miles will translate into airline tickets for North Dakota children with critical illnesses.

The drive started on Thursday, March 1, from 4 a.m. to midnight.

But earlier in the week, KVLY featured news stories about Make-A-Wish kids and told the stories of the Make-A-Wish organization.

The station used every platform throughout the day to let viewers know how they could donate.

There were live shots and/or mentions about the campaign in every newscast, all day.

“What our team did today is the very essence of what a local broadcaster does, bringing the community together to help the less fortunate,” said Jim Wareham, KVLY’s general manager.
