SHIFTING STATION OWNERS IN SAVANNAH
New Vision Television and Piedmont Television Holdings announced Tuesday that New Vision will acquire WJCL, the ABC affiliate in Savannah, Ga. At the same time, Parkin Broadcasting is buying WTGS, the market's Fox affiliate from Bluenose Broadcasting, and is assigning that station's joint sales agreement to New Vision.
The transaction and assignment are subject to regulatory approvals and are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2007.
Jason Elkin, New Vision chairman and CEO, said: "New Vision continues to make targeted investments in areas where we believe that we can be successful. WJCL and WTGS are strong stations and essential stations in the Southeastern market which will add to both our geographic and affiliate diversity."
The acquisition was supported by the private equity group of HBK Capital Management.
